This year’s Payment Processing Seminar is all about generating a swift and positive Return on Investment from new imaging scanners and a service now being offered by some banks. In past Seminars, we explored the business case for implementing Check 21, ARC to ACH Conversion, or staying with paper check deposits. At the heart of the issue is the absence of reduced bank fees for Check 21 image deposits vs. paper check deposits. We all expected bank fees to come down for Check 21 Electronic deposits and we were surprised when bank deposit fees remained “about the same” as for deposits of paper checks and even went up!!!
Now, some banks are offering a Decision Routing service that actually reduces per item deposit fees. Hopefully you can join us on April 9th at Unisys in Eagan MN to see and hear Chad Tate, Director of Treasury Operations, for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of MN describe their business case for Electronic Check Presentment. Additionally, Katie Serns, VP of Wells Fargo’s Smart Decision® - ACH Check Conversion, will explain how this new product offering optimizes the routing of electronic files for billers. Finally, Steve Peterson of the Federal Reserve will help us understand the new directions for the check processing industry.
Unisys is the prime sponsor for this event. Wendy Woods, Unisys Architecture Specialist, will demonstrate how the new Unisys SmartSource® which converts checks to Image Exchange files for Electronic Check Presentment without requiring billers to replace existing check processing equipment or software applications. Mark Cota of Cota Associates is the host for this event.
